Ember Start your campaign free

For the GM running the game

The table remembers. You get to play.

One campaign for your 5e or Pathfinder 2e table. Sheets, the fight, the map, and a recap you read before the players do.

Players join free. Your plan covers the table.

Sound familiar

The night gets away from you

You already know these sessions. Ember puts them back in one campaign.

  • Five apps for one session

The map, the sheet, and last year's notes each live somewhere else. The calendar, the fight, the wiki, and the rules sit in the same campaign. Players RSVP on the session.

  • Last time is a blur

The name, the promise, the wound that should still matter. After everyone agrees, Ember drafts the recap and holds it until you publish.

  • The book comes out mid-swing

Grapple. Concentration. Attack of opportunity. Search the rules on every plan. On Standard and Hearth, ask in plain language and get an answer that cites the section.

Recaps

The night writes itself down

Mark a moment while you play. Read the draft before anyone else does.

  • Recording starts only after every person at the table has agreed. Someone can still play without agreeing. You cannot start until they have.
  • The draft keeps the scene and leaves out table talk: food, phones, scheduling, rules arguments, and chat that left the game. Hidden GM text and hidden names stay out of the player recap.
  • Nothing reaches the players until you publish it. Standard includes 12 recording hours a month. Hearth includes 40. Free does not include recording.

The fight

Run the combat, not the scratch pad

Initiative, hit points, and conditions stay in the tracker while you describe the room.

  • Players see a public band for hit points. Exact numbers stay with you. Concentration checks sit in the tracker.
  • Maps keep fog, tokens, and the squares you have revealed.
  • The table display is part of Hearth. It shows only what you have already revealed.

Sheets

Their sheet, ready for the next level

A full sheet for the rules you picked, with a level-up that walks the next choices.

  • 5e SRD 5.1 (2014), 5e SRD 5.2 (2024), and Pathfinder 2e.
  • Ability rolls come off the sheet.
  • Players edit the fields they are allowed to change. The rest stays with you.

Rules

An answer that names the section

Ask in the middle of the swing. The reply cites the heading it used.

  • Search and exact headings work on every plan, including Free.
  • Standard includes 200 AI answers a month. Hearth is unlimited, still inside the monthly spend cap.
  • A citation that was not in the text Ember retrieved is dropped.

Wiki

Secrets stay secret until you say so

The captain's true name can sit in the wiki for months before the party is allowed to read it.

  • People, places, and items, with hidden text and rumors.
  • You choose when a page is revealed. Recap suggestions wait for your approval, then land as hidden entries.
  • Free includes 25 pages. Standard and Hearth are unlimited.

Generators

When they kick in the door

An NPC, a tavern, or a hoard, ready before the table finishes asking what is inside.

  • NPCs, taverns, shops, hoards, and encounter tables. An NPC can include a stat block. Standard and Hearth.
  • Saving puts the draft in the wiki as hidden. Voice, motive, secret, and the stat block stay off the player portal until you reveal them.
  • Free does not include generators.

Hearth

A comic of the night you played

Hearth draws a short comic from the recap you already published.

  • Comics are part of Hearth.
  • The comic is built from the published, player-safe recap.
  • Leave Hearth and new comics stop. Comics you already made stay.

Players

A table of their own

Their phone has the portal, their sheet, and a whisper you cannot open.

  • They see their sheet, the revealed wiki, the public combat band, and the sessions they were invited to. Hidden names and your notes stay off that page.
  • Whispers stay between players. You and a co-GM cannot open them. You can turn whispers off. Standard and Hearth.
  • A player's journal is encrypted. You cannot read it until they share it.

Questions

Before you invite the table

Which games does Ember run?

5e SRD 5.1 (2014), 5e SRD 5.2 (2024), and Pathfinder 2e under the ORC license.

Do my players pay?

No. Players join free. Only your plan is billed, and that plan covers everyone at the table.

What does it cost?

Free is $0. Standard is $7.99 a month or $79 a year. Hearth is $16.99 a month or $169 a year. A year costs less than twelve monthly payments.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Cancel in billing. The plan stays until the end of the time you already paid, then the account returns to Free.

Will you record us without asking?

No. Recording cannot start until every person at the table has agreed. Someone who has not agreed can still play. The draft stays with you until you publish the player recap. Free does not include recording.

Who can see my notes?

The campaign is private to the people you invite. Whispers stay between players. You and a co-GM cannot open them. A player's journal is encrypted until they share it. Hidden GM text and hidden names stay out of the player recap. Card numbers stay on Square. Ember stores a Square customer id, a card id, and a subscription id.

We play in person. Does this work?

Yes, in the room and online. Players open the portal on a phone. On Hearth, the table display shows only what you have revealed. Ember needs a connection. It does not keep an offline copy of the campaign.

What if I downgrade?

Nothing is deleted. Campaigns over the new limit stay, and they become read-only for new additions. Pages, maps, members, and comics you already have stay put.

Sit down. The last session is already there.

Open a campaign and invite the table. They join free.
